About the Tri-County oil & Gas Expo
New technologies now make it possible to produce vast quantities of natural gas from the Marcellus Shale formation that underlies most of Southwestern Pennsylvania. This development has created historic opportunity for the citizens of Fayette, Greene and Washington counties, as well as the broader region. All of us are anxious to participate in this giant economic wave. We face the prospects of new wealth, yet we also face the challenges of responsible production and sensible stewardship.
These "Gas Expos" are an attempt by concerned citizens in business, education and government to make sure that the activity generated by the Marcellus Shale play is handled in a responsible and effective manner. The key to this is great communication among all parties, and continuing education about crucial issues.
We also want our local suppliers of goods and services to grow their businesses, and for our local people to prosper and expand. We have earned a reputation as serious and reliable business people and a capable labor force. The Tri-County Oil & Gas Expo Committee is working to facilitate cooperation between industry leaders and our local leaders in government, education and commerce and to disseminate information to the public so our local people can participate in the development of this crucial energy resource for our nation. Through these efforts, we hope to ensure the maximum progress in the development of the quality of life in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
In late 2011, the Tri-County Oil & Gas Expo received non-profit status as a 501 (c) (6).
